Generation

I decided to conduct a little experiment today. The idea came to me when I over heard two individuals who so happen to be fellow service members. They were debating why same sex marriage was wrong. Individual A said that it was wrong because it was unconstitutional, that states in the constitution that marriage is between man and a woman. Individual B disagree with Individual A, and for a moment I got excited, because I figured that Individual B would correct him in the difference between the Constitution and religion, boy was I wrong, Individual B's response was "No stupid, that's the Bill of Rights". Ugghhh. So it got me wondering, how many young individuals know anything about the Constitution.

I began to ask the simplest of questions. For example, "what is the second amendment in the bill of rights?" 2 out 6 answered it correctly. Then I asked another simple question "where does the term "plea the fifth" come from?" 0 out of 6. I went into a little bit more difficult question, "please state the preamble of the Constitution?" Nothing, 0 out of 6.

So tell me how is it possible for these young service members to defend our freedoms if they don't even know what those are, what our rights are, who decides what? This is why it is without a doubt that we need to take the bull by its horns and do something. We need veterans, Oath Keepers and senior ranking active duty members to mentor this new generation. They are not doing it in the schools, they are not doing it at home, they sure hell not doing it on the TV, movies or video games. This is the generation that we supposedly have hope in but we are failing by not teaching them anything so how in the hell are they going to know how to defend the Constitution and the rights that are inherited by it.

I call for all citizens, military, law enforcement and civil officers that believe in the oath you have made and find a young service member and mentor them. Through my almost 10 years of service I have mentored a hand full of young members, and that is where my hope is. Because I know that they will take what they have learned from me and teach it to others. I know that when they receive an unlawful order that they will question it, because they know the supreme law of the land, they know which legislation are lawful and unlawful, because they know who to report violations to, they know how to run up a chain of command. But they needed training, they needed mentorship.

You made an oath. That oath is for life. Don't give up.

Our Brothers and Sisters

Today I waited at a McDonalds inside a Walmart while my vehicle was being serviced. I noticed a gentleman that was wearing a ripped up sweater and ripped up pants that he had to hold up so they wouldn't fall off. The sweater was a souvenir sweater for Camp Bonzai in Iraq for 2011. He was obviously homeless and he had a dollar to buy a cup of coffee.

I decided to approach the man and I asked him if he served in Iraq. He told me he did, he was a Seabee in the Navy. I handed him five dollars, I knew that Walmart sales ten dollars jeans, and I offered to buy him one, but he refused, what he would really wanted was a sleeping bag. I unfortunately couldn't afford one at that time. My hope is that I can run into him again and buy him that sleeping bag, what I would really like is to get him off the streets and get him help. He was obviously a drug addict.

There are times I really don't know why I serve. Specially when I see one of my own brothers or sisters living in less than acceptable conditions. Who knows why he was on the streets and doing drugs. Statistically the reason is because veterans are left with no choice but to self medicate with alcohol and illegal drugs, they are left homeless because no one wants to deal with a veteran's mental health problems (http://nchv.org/index.php/news/media/background_and_statistics/#demo) .

Last Tuesday during a congressional hearing on the latest invasion incident in the white house, Representative Chaffetz from Utah called for the secret service to next time shoot on site. Not once I heard him talk about the fact that Omar Gonzalez is a Veteran that desperately needed medical support. Not once did he question why a man has gone for so long without assistance from the Government. He was more concerned about shoot first ask later.

At times I forget why sworn a oath to defend the rights and freedoms inherited by the Constitution. I look at some of the people that serve in our government and I am reminded why, because if you and I aren't then this country would have lost our Constitution a long time ago.

IDFO TV EPISODE 1 COMING SOON

Alright guys,
I know I have been promising Episode 1 of IDFO TV, and it is not going to be ready today. The good news is, that I have finally got down the framework for the episode, interviews set up and ready to film and I will have it done soon. I feel bad that I haven't kept my word for today, but I am so happy that I will finally have a plan and its ready to be put it in action.

I think you will really enjoy Episode 1, its going to rattle some cages, its going to bring a lot of debate and that is exactly the reaction I am looking for and I think it will guarantee it.

Inception

So as some of you may know, I really wanted to found an organization by the name of Inception of Defending Freedom Organization (IDFO). I have decided that right now is not the time to work on  project of change of that scale. There will be a time one day. In the mean time, I am happy to still spread knowledge and create a network of like minded heroes.

I still plan on working on IDFO TV, all though it is going to take longer than I thought to come out with the first episode. There has been some support on this project and I don't want to let down those that have put effort into it.

This blog will be another mini-project that can make great changes. I believe that this is where I am needed now, in the blogging community and the youtube community. It seems to be the most influential tools at the time and I am happy to use it.

Thank you for all of my supporters. Lets do our job, our sworn oath and carry out our duties. We must defend the Constitution and for what it stands for.
